Blog Reflection for Module 2

Blog Reflection for Module 2

This module has enabled me to form a more definitive structure of the overall project. I was able to refine both curriculum framing questions and how students would be assessed throughout the time line of the project. I found that meeting with other colleagues about our projects particularly helpful in helping to refine questions and also ideas for ongoing assessment.

By offering students open ended curriculum framing questions, students are encouraged to approach learning from a more personal perspective, students have input of their learning and also of the direction of their learning. By giving students both choice and direction, students feel more empowered and are more likely to produce higher quality work that is more meaningful. Curriculum framing questions encourage higher order thinking and also thinking “outside the box”.

I found that the examples for ongoing assessment in both the CD and on the website to be particularly helpful. It was great to be able to review these as a class to hear reactions from other teachers about specific assessments that have been used before and what was and wasn't affective. I also thought it was great to see what other colleagues were excited to try either in their present classes or for their projects.

I feel that this module has been particularly helpful in giving my project more direction and overall structure.
